Best Season to Climb

The prime seasons for climbing Kilimanjaro via the Marangu Route are January to mid-March and June to October. These dry periods offer the safest footing, clearest summit views and highest success rates. We avoid the long rains of April-May. The 7-day Marangu itinerary maximizes acclimatisation, significantly improving your chance of reaching Uhuru Peak.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the success rate on the 7-day Marangu route?
The 7-day Marangu itinerary has one of the highest success rates because the extra acclimatisation day makes a big difference compared to shorter climbs.
Do I need prior mountaineering experience?
No technical experience is required. Kilimanjaro is a high-altitude trek, but you must be fit and prepared for long days and the cold.
How cold does it get at the summit?
Summit-night temperatures can drop to -15C to -20C with wind chill. Proper layering and a warm sleeping bag are essential.
What about altitude sickness on Kilimanjaro?
Altitude is the biggest challenge. Our pacing, "climb high sleep low" days, hydration guidance and guide monitoring reduce the risk. We carry oxygen for emergencies.
Are park fees included in the price?
Yes, Kilimanjaro National Park entry and camping fees are included. Flights, visa and insurance are not.
